Nigeria remains one of the top contributors to under-5 and maternal mortality rates globally. Contributing factors such as poverty, limited access to medical treatment, shortages of healthcare workers, lack of awareness, and poor hygiene increase the risk of deadly but preventable diseases, making them the primary causes of high mortality rates among infants and mothers.

As part of the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), global leaders, policymakers, and advocates gathered at Nigeria House, New York, for a high-level event hosted by Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI).

The session, titled “From Declaration to Action: Evidence, Progress, and Gaps,” provided a platform to assess progress on gender equality and outline urgent steps needed to turn commitments into real-world impact. Click here to know more

VIRTUAL EVENT: YOUTH-LED REFLECTIONS: 30 YEARS AFTER BEIJING-PROGRESS, GAPS, AND EMERGING ISSUES IN ADVANCING GENDER EQUALITY

In a virtual panel organized as part of the CSW69 event, youth leaders gathered to reflect on the progress made in advancing gender equality since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in 1995. The event focused on reviewing the challenges, gaps, and emerging issues from the youth perspective, and generating recommendations for strengthening youth involvement in gender equality advocacy and policy-making.
