On the 14th of June 2017, Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI), carried out a community program which was focus mainly on the distribution of birthing kits for pregnant women, the birthing kits was distributed in Yalwan Damai Primary Health Care Centre in Kiyawa, Jigawa State.
The program was aimed at educating pregnant women on the basic knowledge they need to know during and after pregnancy. The topics to be talked on includes, the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, good nutrition during pregnancy, importance of ante-natal care, essence of personal hygiene/clean environment and demonstration of proper hand washing. The program ended with the distribution of seventy (70) packs of birthing kit in the location.
OBJECTIVES
- To improve the lives of women and children in rural communities by equipping them with the right knowledge on simple strategies to live healthy for themselves and their children.
- To educate pregnant women on the stages in pregnancy and the differences in their experiences.
- To help in reducing maternal and child mortality rate in Jigawa by distributing birthing kits and encouraging delivery in health facilities
- To create more awareness on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and proper nutrition for both mother and child.
To emphasize the importance of routine immunization as the best way to reduce child mortality in Jigawa State.
