On the 16th of May 2022, a Stakeholders meeting on Non-Polio Supplementary campaign was held on NAF conference center Kado, Abuja.
Discussions were focused on
- The strategies for Supplementary Immunization Activities and Routine Immunization
- Expected roles of CSO’s in meeting demand for Primary Health Care

In the event, CSOs were encouraged to be active participants by imbibing the right knowledge and strategies for Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIA’s) and Routine Immunization in Nigeria
All stakeholders were urged to provide the relevant support for the planned SIA’s and cascade the information to their members at the substantial level.
The benefits of the Supplementary Immunization activities including measles, meningitis A, yellow fever campaigns and expected role of each stakeholder were shared.
Children remain unreached with the measles vaccination: insecurities, geographic inaccessibility and missed settlements making periodic seasonal outbreaks continue to occur
Accumulation of susceptible children (8-9 and 10-11 years) missed by the Meningitis A mass campaigns conducted between 2011-2014 and 2019 leaving then unprotected.
Discussions on the Problems Facing Routine Immunization
- Change of mode of employment of Adhoc Staffs for Routine Immunization
- Integration of COVID19 vaccination with other PHC activities to boost access and coverage of immunization.
- All stakeholders committing to transition all community based health programs into CHIPS programme
