In honor of the International Day of Families 2024, the Papa Onyeze Women Empowerment and Relief (POWER) Foundation, alongside the Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI), launched a significant educational program at Unity Primary School in the Obinwanne community. This initiative aimed to educate 50 adolescents about the vital role of families in promoting social harmony amid climate change challenges.
Focus on Resilience and Harmony
The program featured interactive discussions and awareness sessions that emphasized fostering peace within families to address social and environmental issues. Presentations highlighted sustainable lifestyle choices that families can adopt to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to climate action.
Educational Resources
Informative materials, including flyers and pamphlets, were distributed to participants. These resources provided tips on family values and maintaining healthy relationships in the context of climate change, serving as ongoing educational tools for the adolescents.
Engaging Discussions
Children participated in discussions about family values, climate change, and the role families play in climate action. They explored ways to contribute to protecting the environment, aligning with the 2024 theme of the International Day of Families, which focuses on the connection between families and climate change.
Commitment to Empowerment
POWER Foundation and SLNI are dedicated to equipping adolescents with the knowledge and skills necessary to face the challenges of a changing climate while strengthening family bonds and values.
