Empowering Mothers, Strengthening Communities: SLNI’s Healthcare Outreach in Abuja

On August 20th, 2025, the Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI) team visited a Primary Healthcare Centre in Abuja with one clear mission—to empower women through health education and practical support.

In a vibrant and engaging session, caregivers and expectant mothers came together to learn about vital aspects of maternal and child health. Topics covered included the importance of routine checkups, immunization, and safe delivery practices—all of which play a crucial role in reducing maternal and infant mortality in underserved communities.

The session didn’t just deliver information; it sparked meaningful dialogue.

Mothers and caregivers asked thoughtful questions about:

  • Folic acid and its role in preventing birth defects
  • Cervical cancer prevention strategies
  • The importance of the HPV vaccine
  • Tetanus shots during pregnancy

These conversations highlighted something powerful: communities are not just listening—they are eager to understand, engage, and take charge of their health.

To further support the women in attendance, the SLNI team distributed birthing kits, offering tangible tools that can make a life-saving difference during delivery, especially in low-resource settings.

This outreach effort was more than a health talk—it was a step toward building a healthier, more informed future for women and children in Nigeria. It also reaffirmed SLNI’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.

We believe that when women are empowered with the right knowledge and resources, entire communities thrive.
