Silver Lining for Healthier Families: Launch of Phase Two of the Jigawa MNCH Project

July 1, 2024 – Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI) proudly celebrated the launch of the second phase of its Jigawa Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Project at Sakawaya Primary Health Care Center in Dutse. This milestone event, themed “Silver Lining for Healthier Families,” marks the 7th program of this impactful initiative.

Program Highlights
The event saw active participation from expectant mothers, who engaged in informative sessions covering a wide array of essential health topics. These discussions included exclusive breastfeeding, routine immunizations, family planning, kangaroo mother care, diaper changing, postpartum depression, caring for sick children, and personal and environmental hygiene. The significance of both antenatal and postnatal care was emphasized to ensure comprehensive maternal health.

To support the well-being of these expectant mothers, SLNI provided free birthing kits containing essential supplements to 50 pregnant women. Additionally, 25 women identified with pregnancy complications were granted free ultrasound scans at Sambo Hospital in Dutse, Jigawa State. These efforts underscore SLNI’s commitment to providing necessary resources and medical support to ensure safe pregnancies and deliveries.

Collaborative Efforts
This remarkable initiative is a collaborative effort involving Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative, the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation, and the Rotary Club. The combined efforts of these organizations highlight their unwavering commitment to promoting maternal and child health within the community. Through educational sessions and the provision of critical healthcare resources, they aim to foster healthier families and reduce maternal and child mortality rates in Jigawa State.

Conclusion
Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative remains dedicated to improving maternal and child health outcomes in Jigawa State. The success of this event is a testament to the power of collaboration and community engagement. As SLNI continues to advance its mission, it remains focused on making a lasting impact on the well-being of families, ensuring a healthier future for all.
