As part of our ongoing health outreach initiative, the SLNI team, comprising Hamza Abubakar, Simeon Terzungwe Ordeun, Bilal Umar, and Fareedah Hassan Mukhtar, visited the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Office in Yola South and Yola North LGA.
Upon arrival, the team first met with the M&E Yola South. During this meeting, Hamza Abubakar provided a comprehensive briefing on the purpose of our visit. He outlined the activities planned for the coming days, specifically health education sessions for pregnant women and the distribution of birthing kits, scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 20th and 21st of May. He emphasized on the importance of data integrity and transparency that is collected both at facility and DHIS.
The Silver lining for the needy initiative team (SLNI) presented the M&E officer with a Vital Jacket and a flyer providing information about the upcoming sessions. After a cordial exchange and farewell, we proceeded to the next engagement.
Later, the team visited Mr. Mohammed, M&E officer at Yola North, and had the opportunity to meet with the Executive Secretary, Hajiya Fatima Baba Tafida. Both officials gave the SLNI team a warm welcome and expressed their willingness to support the SLNI team in any way possible.
During this visit, Mr. Mohammed highlighted ongoing challenges with data quality and consistency across health records. He emphasized the importance of cross-verifying entries in the physical register with those in the District Health Information System (DHIS) to identify discrepancies. He advised that persistent inconsistencies in data from any specific Primary Health Centre (PHC) should be promptly reported to their office. This would allow them to intervene, either by directly engaging with the PHC or through other corrective measures.
In appreciation of their support, the SLNI team presented Mr. Mohammed with a Vital Jacket and concluded the visit with a group photograph before departing the premises.
