POWER FOUNDATION & SILVER LINING FOR THE NEEDY INITIATIVE: INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD

In observance of the International Day of the Girl Child, POWER Foundation in partnership with Silver Lining for the Needy initiative and Day Star International Academy organized a special program to celebrate the potential and empowerment of girls in our community on the 24th of October 2023. The program highlights the significance of this global observance and underscores the importance of promoting gender equality and education for all girls. This initiative aimed to provide a platform for fostering awareness and understanding of the critical role that education and empowerment play in shaping the future of the girl child. Through engaging activities and insightful discussions, the program sought to inspire and empower young girls to reach their full potential and become catalysts for positive change in their communities.

PROGRAMME

The program commenced with an opening address by the coordinator, who introduced both herself and the foundation, setting the context for the day’s activities. Following this, the facilitator delivered an engaging opening remark, laying the foundation for the enlightening session. The program began with the facilitator providing comprehensive explanations to the children, emphasizing the significance of education for girls beyond traditional gender roles. The facilitator used real-life examples to emphasize celebrating and empowering the girl child. The interactive nature of the class encouraged students to actively participate and ask questions, fostering an exciting and dynamic learning environment.  The program’s focus on empowering the girl child was well-received by both the students and the staff of Day Star International Academy. The students’ enhanced understanding of the importance of empowering girls was evident by the end of the session. The staff and students extended their heartfelt appreciation to the foundation for its unwavering support and commitment to promoting education and empowerment.

METHODOLOGY

The program’s success was facilitated by meticulous planning and coordination. The coordinator liaised with the school principal to discuss the program, ensuring mutual agreement on the program’s objectives and schedule. Before the program, the coordinator dedicated time to setting up the venue, arranging the necessary materials, and ensuring a conducive learning environment. Additionally, the provision of refreshments added to the overall positive experience of the session.

 CONCLUSION/RESULT

The program concluded on a positive note, with both students and staff expressing gratitude to the foundation for their valuable support. The student’s active participation and the insights gained from their interviews underscored the program’s success in imparting meaningful knowledge. Out of the 50 students, 48 were present, indicating the program’s significant impact and reach within the school community
