Advancing Maternal and Child Health: SLNI’s 6th Jigawa MNCH Project

Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI), in collaboration with the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation and Rotary Club, successfully hosted the sixth Jigawa Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Project at Gawuna Primary Health Care Center in Hadejia. Themed “Silver Lining for Healthier Families,” this event continues to promote maternal and child health in Jigawa State.

Event Highlights
The day began with a warm welcome from the SLNI team, creating a positive atmosphere for informative sessions. Expectant mothers participated in discussions on crucial MNCH topics, including:

  • Exclusive Breastfeeding
  • Routine Immunizations
  • Family Planning
  • Kangaroo Mother Care
  • Diaper Changing
  • Postpartum Depression
  • Care for Sick Children
  • Personal and Environmental Hygiene
  • Antenatal and Postnatal Care
  • Support and Resources

After the educational sessions, each mother received a free birthing kit with essential supplements to support safe deliveries. Women identified with potential complications were offered free ultrasound scans at Success Clinic in Hadejia, ensuring early detection and management of health issues.

Impact and Participation
Key participants included Mallam Bala, Hauwa Ayuba, and Midwife Aisha Yunusa, whose expertise was vital in delivering comprehensive health education. The program successfully distributed 83 birthing kits, and 25 women benefited from ultrasound scans, reflecting its significant impact.

Community Engagement
The enthusiastic participation of the community highlights the importance of such initiatives in promoting maternal and child health. This program exemplifies the power of collaboration and community engagement in addressing critical health challenges.

SLNI, with the support of the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation and Rotary Club, remains dedicated to fostering healthier families and reducing maternal and child mortality in Jigawa State.
