Empowering Families: Successful Execution of the 8th Jigawa MNCH Program

July 10th, 2024 – Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI), in collaboration with T.Y. Danjuma Foundation and the Rotary Club, proudly announces the successful execution of the 8th program of the Jigawa Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) Project. Held at Hadejia General Hospital, this event marks the second program of the project’s second phase, reaffirming our commitment to improving maternal and child health in Jigawa State.

Program Highlights
The event commenced with expectant mothers engaging in comprehensive and informative sessions covering a wide range of critical health topics. Discussions included exclusive breastfeeding, routine immunizations, family planning, kangaroo mother care, diaper changing, postpartum depression, care for sick children, personal and environmental hygiene, and the significance of antenatal and postnatal care. These sessions were designed to empower mothers with the knowledge essential for their health and well-being.

Simultaneously, fathers participated in discussions about their roles in maternal and child health. Topics covered included supporting their wives during pregnancy and childbirth, the importance of kangaroo mother care, family planning, addressing early child marriage, planning for childbirth costs, and the importance of health insurance. This dual approach ensured that both parents were well-informed and prepared to support each other and their families.

Supporting Maternal Health
To further support expectant mothers, 100 free birthing kits containing essential supplements were distributed. Additionally, 25 expectant mothers identified with pregnancy complications were granted free ultrasound scans at Hadejia General Hospital, ensuring they receive the necessary medical attention for a safe and healthy delivery. These efforts underscore the commitment to providing vital resources and medical support to expectant mothers in the region.

Collaborative Efforts
This impactful program was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative, T.Y. Danjuma Foundation, and the Rotary Club. Their joint efforts continue to make a significant difference in the lives of families in Jigawa State, contributing to the reduction of maternal and child mortality. The enthusiastic participation of the community highlights the importance of such initiatives in promoting maternal and child health.

As we move forward, we remain dedicated to supporting healthier families and fostering a brighter future for communities across Jigawa State. Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative, along with our esteemed partners, continues to strive for excellence in maternal and child health through collaborative efforts and community engagement.
