We are excited to introduce the Vaccination Initiative Targeting Adolescent Lives (VITAL) Project, a partnership with WELLAHEALTH, UPSWELL, and CAPULET.
This initiative is focused on increasing HPV vaccine uptake among girls aged 9-14 in Abuja, Nasarawa, and Adamawa states, using our social media channels and community pharmacists as trusted influencers.
Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women in Nigeria, but it is largely preventable through the HPV vaccine. VITAL aims to raise awareness, improve access, and increase vaccination rates to protect young girls from this preventable cancer.
Our approach includes awareness campaigns that share accurate information on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, collaborations with pharmacists to provide onsite reliable information, and ensuring HPV vaccines are available at primary healthcare facilities.
We are also engaging with parents, caregivers, and families to answer their questions through our Facebook, and Instagram channels and community pharmacists to provide the knowledge they need about the HPV vaccine. Through VITAL, we hope to ensure a healthier future for young girls, free from the risks of cervical cancer.
The VITAL Project is funded by GAVI The Vaccine Alliance, and supported by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
Stay tuned for updates and learn how you can get involved to make a positive impact. Together, we can create healthier communities, one vaccine at a time.
