On the 7th of August 2023, SLNI conducted a summer school outreach at Bema Homes, where they were warmly welcomed by Mr Benedict Gerik, the school proprietor. A meeting was held at the founder’s office to discuss SLNI’s program for the children, and the founder expressed excitement and appreciation for the bags and mathematical set brought by SLNI.
SLNI proposed to the school management, a reduction of fees to enable access to the program for less privileged children, but a final decision could not be reached due to organizational issues. Bema Homes requested an ICT tutor for the summer classes, and SLNI assigned two of its ICT staff to tutor the children every Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. for 2-3 hours. Out of 150 packages, SLNI distributed 17 packages to the children at Bema homes. The remaining 133 packages were handed over to the school management for distribution to other children.
