On January 18, 2023, SLNI, in conjunction with Theodora Anarhe Adamu Foundation (TAAF), carried out an antenatal outreach and birthing kit program at Apo Primary Health Care Center under AMAC LGA of FCT-Abuja.
Expectant mothers were educated on the three stages of labor, which are:
1st stage: When the cervix starts to contract and relax
2nd stage: When the cervix has thinned and fully dilated
3rd stage: delivery of the placenta.
The SLNI Nurse also educated the expectant mothers on exclusive breastfeeding and its importance to the mother and newborn. The health talk was finally concluded by TAAF staff who talked on postpartum depression.
Expectant mothers from the APO primary health care program received 100 birthing kits from Theodora Anarhe Adamu Foundation in collaboration with the Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative. Birthing kits consist of an underpad, sterile glove, gauze pad, bar of soap, surgical blade, umbilical cord clamp, and other pregnancy items to assist them during birth.
