In June 2024, Silver Lining for the Needy Initiative (SLNI) celebrated its 15th anniversary with dual events that underscored its dedication to community service and health improvement in Abuja.
Gbagalape Outreach Event
On June 15th, SLNI hosted a vibrant outreach event in Gbagalape, focusing on essential health services and community engagement. Ms. Janet, the Digital Communications Assistant, moderated the event, while Ms. Stephanie, the Program Manager, highlighted the importance of community health in her opening remarks. Nurse Aisha delivered a comprehensive health talk covering vital topics such as personal hygiene, malaria prevention, and blood pressure management.
Participants received free health screenings, including blood glucose and malaria tests, with positive cases receiving free medication. Children participated in fun activities like dancing and spelling competitions and received deworming treatments along with party bags.
Despite challenges such as weather and technical issues, the event successfully impacted the community, benefiting 85 children and 125 adults.
Wuse In-House Celebration
On June 19th, SLNI continued the festivities with an in-house event in Wuse, bringing together board members, former staff, and community volunteers. This gathering celebrated the contributions that have fueled SLNI’s mission over the past 15 years. Heartfelt messages and reflections on SLNI’s journey were shared, with Ms. Stephanie’s inspiring speech resonating deeply with attendees.
Looking to the Future
These celebrations were not only a reflection on past accomplishments but also a testament to SLNI’s ongoing commitment to supporting underprivileged communities. As SLNI looks to the future, it remains dedicated to building on its legacy of compassion and service, continuing to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.
