Advocacy Visit to AMAC

On March 14, 2023, SLNI, along with other members of the Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) subcommittee, visited the director of public health at AMAC, FCT, at Apo to discuss the impending World Malaria Day outreach slated for April 24, 2023, with the theme: “Time to deliver zero malaria, invest, innovate, and implement.”

The head of advocacy and social mobilization at National Malaria Elimination Program (NMEP) presented January and February statistics analysis of Karu (97%), Orozo Ward (94%), which turned out to have the highest malaria prevalence within AMAC. Also, the World Malaria Day program will take place in any of the chosen locations when AMAC finalizes its selection.

Other topics discussed during the advocacy visit include:

  • Health Education on Malaria
  • Free malaria diagnosis and treatment
  • distribution of mosquito nets to pregnant women in the community.
  • Target Audience: 500 people
  • Entertainment

Finally, the director ended the meeting by promising the ACSM subcommittee that she would forward our request to the authorities to enable us to carry out a successful program.
