On world prematurity day which was on the 17th November, 2022 SLNI supported FERICC during the Men A and measles campaign with birthing kits, paid a visit to Asokoro District hospital, Wuse District hospital
and Maitama District hospital. During this antenatal out-reach, SLNI staffs nurses met with the pregnant
women at these facilities. The pregnant women were educated on prematurity and its complications, and kangaroo mother care, its benefits to both the mother and the baby. At the end of the session, 12 birthing kits were distributed to the pregnant women to commemorate the day and they were encouraged to
carry it along on their day of delivery.
On the 25th of November 2022, SLNI re-visited Asokoro District hospital. During this antenatal out-reach, SLNI Staffs met with the pregnant women at the health facility. The pregnant women were educated on malaria in pregnancy, its complications and prevention, and also the importance of taking adequate nutrients during pregnancy, as we emphasized on the benefits of the intake of adequate nutrients to both the mother and the baby. At the end of the lecture 47 birthing kits were distributed to the pregnant women to assist them during delivery.
