The 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67), which took place from March 6th to 17th, 2023, had a priority theme that acknowledged the crucial role that innovation and technology play in attaining gender equality.
The CSW67 session is the largest annual gathering of UN women members. The primary focus is on human rights, gender equality, and the empowerment of all women and girls.
The CSW67 took place against the backdrop of continued backlash against women’s rights, from increased violence against women in the public space to the gender-based effects of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and the daily horrors experienced by women and girls in emergency and crisis areas such as those in Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Iran.
The conclusions reached and adopted by Member States serve as a guide for all stakeholders, including governments, businesses, civil society, and youth, in promoting the full and equal participation and leadership of women and girls in the design, transformation, and integration of digital technologies and innovation processes that meet the needs and human rights of women and girls.
